Welcome to the new blog

As the title reads, welcome everyone!

So, some of you will be totally new to Wulverblade and some will have been following the gradual updates that I’ve been pushing up on the Fully Illustrated Blog (and on twitter) over the past year. Getting to this point has taken a good year but things are in full swing now and I’m so excited to be able to launch the new site and development blog.

I’m going to be retro-blogging some posts in that cover what’s happened to date, so don’t be confused to see new posts that contain old stories for a while. They’re just there to pad out the content and get newcomers up to speed.

I really, really want everyone to speak up in the comments too, so if you have a question, opinion or passing comment, please feel very welcome to leave it in any of the posts that spike your interest, I’ll be being very active on here, so expect responses, lots of them :)

Competition:

Ok, so to kick things off with something fun, I’m running a competition to celebrate the launch of the site. How do you fancy winning 1 of 2 signed Wulverblade art prints? Well, if that tickles your fancy, simply sign up to the newsletter in the sidebar on the right (if you’re on your mobile you’ll need to rotate your device round to landscape to see it) and all the registered addresses will be put into a hat for a signed print! Easy. Best bit is, by signing up you’ll be the first to know about the big developments as they happen too! Win, win!

Weekly Blog Updates:

Yep you read it right, I’m aiming to update the blog with all things Wulverblade once a week. That’s no easy task with the amount of work I’m juggling, but I really want you guys to see the site as something worth returning to weekly. These blog posts are going to cover all kinds of things too, so for all those fellow illustrators out there that have been asking me for years to show some WIP pieces and some tutorials, this is the place it will happen :)

Big Announcement:

We have a BIG announcement coming in November, so in just over a months’ time, expect some exciting big updates!

Thanks.

Mike.

Please feel welcome to say hello, I want to get as much feedback and input from everyone as possible :) Your views are, well, rather important to me!

  • deej

After hearing tidbits for so long it’s redonkulously exciting to see the site up and updates on the way. Looks great. March on, woohoo :D

    • michaelheald

Thanks, glad to hear you’re excited! It’s proving a long journey but one that will be worth the wait!

  • Robin Laird

Sooooo, this site has been meticulously designed and thought about. Great little details and touches… and the thing that excites me most is that it must give everyone FULL confidence that the game itself will have the EXACT same level of detail, care and love. CAN’T BLOODY WAIT!

    • michaelheald

Wow great feedback, thanks Robin! You can rest assured that the game is getting lavishly adorned with more attention to detail than you could ever believe :) I want this to be something that’s truly loved by people as it’s getting every last drop of my creative soul. Thanks again!

  • Dan Woolley

As expected, your new site shows the same level of quality as the teaser trailer. I agree with Robin that this has now set the standard very high for the game itself. Looking forward to it.

    • michaelheald

Thanks Dan! All I can say is wait until you see the character animations :) They’re back breaking to be honest, absolutely all consuming, but the end results are working out even better than I’d planned. This game has been a voyage of self discovery in many ways and has forced me to embrace new skills that I previously had only ever touched on.

      TOO MUCH FUN!

      Thanks again.

Hi Michael, the site looks amazing and has the attention to detail and mind blowing graphics that we’ve come to expect from you. I’m incredibly jealous of your talent and would really love to see more of your design workflow in future blog posts so that we can all learn from what you do. Congratulations, this is an achievement you should celebrate. It’s not easy to be able to launch your own project along side your busy design schedule. All the best for the future.

    • michaelheald

Thanks for the kind words! I’ll try to be as transparent as I can with the illustration/animation techniques here. My first goal is to make a quick step by step on my illustration process, from sketch to final in game art. Hopefully that should make for a good read!

And yes, the busy schedule running alongside Wulverblade is intense. Running two things that you absolutely love is both a blessing and masterful move to exhaust yourself each day ;)

    Happy Wulverblade Day!

Hi Guys, Just wanted to say a quick “Hello” and also a huge congrats to Mike on the birth of the Wulverblade site. It looks fantastic man!

We are the dudes behind the music & sound-design for Wulverblade. We’re thrilled to be working on this MEGA game with such a talented team. Over the coming weeks and months we will be contributing posts about writing, recording & producing the game soundtrack. There’s lots of cool stuff coming soon and we can’t wait to share it.

    Cheerio for now!

    • michaelheald

      • Verbal Vigilante

Cheers Mike! You Rock too man. :)

The level of detail in Wulverblade is sooo EPIC that’s it’s going to be nice to show some ‘behind the curtain’ action!
